
early childhood education
with Aboriginal Learners
The Early Childhood Education (ECE) Program is a two-year diploma program offered in partnership with Niagara College. The ECE program at Six Nations Polytechnic will receive at least 600 hours of fieldwork experience and 200 hours of observation with a focus on First Nations peoples and communities. The program is designed to meet training requirements of the Association for Early Childhood Educators of Ontario, which certifies teachers of young children. The program is also designed to meet registration requirements with the new College of Early Childhood Education.

Program Requirements
Police Clearance Certificate:
Many employers have instituted a police clearance certificate as a requirement for appropriate field placements beginning in Term 2 and for subsequent employment. All costs associated with the certificate are the responsibility of the student.
Health Requirement:
A confidential College Health Information form is required three weeks prior to start of Term 2. All costs associated with inoculations, and/or verification, are the responsibility of the student. Students applying to the ECE program should recognize the physical demands involved in caring for children.
Transportation:
Students are responsible for their own transportation in order to complete field placement requirements. Students are responsible for all costs associated with such transportation.
