Board Member Recruitment Information

From time to time, new Board Members are recruited. The following is general information about being a Board Member:

If an individual is interested in serving as a Board Member, the following must be completed:

  1. Purchase an annual ($2), student ($5), alumni ($5), or lifetime ($25) membership.

  2. a)  If an individual is nominated by someone else, they will be contacted by a member of the Ad Hoc Nominations Committee to confirm whether they wish to be considered to the selection for the Board of Governors.

    b) If an individual nominates himself/herself, this will act as their confirmation that they wish to be considered to the selection for the Board of Directors.  A “seconder” is required for each nomination.

  3. All paid members will be notified by telephone or mail of the names of the nominees.

  4. Selection of new board members is made at the Annual General Meeting.  The process to select board members will be agreed upon by those in attendance (i.e. ballot).  Proxy votes will be accepted and are limited to 10 votes per member.

All nominees are advised to read the “Board of Directors Code of Conduct”, Six Nations Polytechnic Board Policies, page 26 for specific details.

Six Nations Polytechnic Board of Directors - Student Representative

The student representative will be a current student of Six Nations Polytechnic or a former student of Six Nations Polytechnic within the last two years in either full time or part time studies. Nominations will be requested from the student body in September. Nominees will present themselves at the Annual General Meeting and the Board of Directors will select a student representative in October.

The student representative is a non-voting participant on the board.  The student representative will have all of the privileges as other board of directors but will not be involved in any voting or selections or in-camera discussions.

Please note that the student representative will not be expected to resolve student issues and concerns since that will continue to be a responsibility of the administrative staff at Six Nations Polytechnic.

Six Nations Polytechnic Board of Directors looks forward to the student representative input and perspective.
