Program Description

Includes basic training in the areas of Welding, Machining, and Electrical.

This one-year Mohawk College Certificate Program focuses on mechanical techniques and manufacturing processes that can lead to further training in specialized programs and/or trade programs within a broad range of industries in the industrial sector. Students gain trades training with a focus on professional practice, quality and sustainable practices.

The industrial sector is experiencing growth in manufacturing technology, maintenance, process control and automation. Skilled trades people are in demand and will continue to be well into the future.

Admission Requirements: 

OSSD or equivalent (Mohawk Academic Upgrading, GED) including:

  • Grade 11 English, E, C or U
  • Grade 10 Mathematics, L, D or P
  • Option are available for mature applicants.
Career Paths: 

This Introductory program will support some outcomes at an introductory level (Basic) for the in-school trade curriculum. Potential industries of employment may include:

  • Welder
  • Plumber
  • Cabinetry
  • Electrician
  • Production Framing
  • CNC Operator/Programmer
  • Industrial Mechanic (Millwright)
