Early Childhood Education - Year 2

Niagara College

In partnership with Niagara College, this two year program is delivered at Six Nations Polytechnic and all courses have been adapted to include knowledge and practices that are in keeping with local culture and traditions. Students study the physical, cognitive, social and psychological development of children from infancy to twelve years of age. With a good understanding of how children grow and develop, students are able to plan developmentally age-appropriate activities and environments to nurture and challenge children to learn. Participants have the opportunity to attend work placements in both community-based settings and urban centers.

Graduates may find employment opportunities in community pre-school programs, child care centers, children's institutions, camps and hospital play rooms, integrated centers, education programs, family resource programs or Ontario early years centers, transition homes for battered women and children, home childcare and child care programs for school-aged children.
