social services worker program

The Social Services Worker (SSW) program is a two-year diploma program offered in partnership with Niagara College.  In the SSW program with Six Nations Polytechnic, students will receive more than 650 hours of hands-on experience with a focus on First Nations peoples.  Curriculum integrates intensive field experiences with sound academic training.  Case studies, videotape simulations and small group discussions enhance learning.  Program responds to changes in the social services field.  Field placements often lead to employment.  Two-year degree completion option available.

A desire to help people is only the beginning. To succeed in social services, you also need basic knowledge and skills as well as guiding values. This program will equip you on all fronts.

Note: Mature student applicants, or applicants who have an OSSD that includes workplace (E) level learning, may be considered for admission after meeting with a staff member to review academic needs, interests and possible career directions. Academic testing and/or upgrading may be required.

Grades from co-op courses and half credit courses are not considered.

To Apply

  1. Pick up an Admissions Application Package at Six Nations Polytechnic, 2160 Fourth Line, Ohsweken, Ontario.

  2. Submit completed package along with:

    • all high school, college and university transcripts;
    • $30 processing fee;
    • copy of photo identification; and,
    • additional requirements as outlined under Admission Requirements.

    Also note:
    -$95 OCAS fees needed at time of registration.
    -Grand River Post Secondary Education Office deadline for fall programs is May 17.
