Academic Accommodations

Admissions Application Package
Please refer to a specific program page for information on how to apply, admission requirements and other important details.

Assessment - NUP only
Each year an assessment is carried out to determine students’ functioning level in the areas of math, essay writing and computer skills to determine if further upgrading is needed.  The assessment is completed during the morning portion of the student orientation agenda.  Specific details will be mailed directly to students.

Class Schedules
Final class schedules will be available to pickup at the Student Orientation on Wednesday August 31, 2011.

Class Start Dates
Most classes begin Tuesday, September 6, 2011.  Check final class schedules for other important dates and details. 
Note:  Six Nations Polytechnic is closed on Monday, September 5, 2011 for Labour Day holiday.

Computer Access Time
Computer lab is open to all current students.  Call for availability or see hours of access posted on the computer lab door.  Please use your own memory stick as computers are cleaned and refreshed from time to time to maintain speed.

Fax
Student rates are $1 per page (long distance) or free (local) or $2 per page (long distance )or $1 per page (local) for community members.

Handicap Accessible
Six Nations Polytechnic’s new facility is equipped with an elevator, designated parking and automated doors for handicap access.

Library Resources
Resources specific to Indigenous Studies are available for use in-house only and not available for loans.  The Nursing program resources are available and can be loaned for a two-week period.  Ask about other options to access reference materials available locally or online.

Math Refresher - NUP only
Classes will be held during the first six weeks of the fall term.  Each class is 45-minutes in duration.  Continuation into the winter term in the Native University Program is dependent upon successful completion of the Math Refresher.  For class time, date and location, check final class schedules for details.

Orientation
The student orientation will take place on Wednesday, September 1, 2010.  Specific details will be mailed directly to students along with letters of acceptance.

Photocopy
A coin-operated photocopier is available for student use at 10¢ per page.

Pre-Session
The Pre-Session is a one day workshop to refresh your skills in Essay Writing and Computer Skills.  The Pre-Session will be held on Thursday, September 2, 2010; 9am – Essay Writing and 1pm – Computer Skills.

Registration
Registration will begin Monday, June 28, 2010.  To register, please contact Pam Skye, Student Services Coordinator to arrange an appointment, 519-445-0023, ext. 234.  Note: Please bring your Indian Status Card plus one other form of photo identification.  All college program applicants are required to submit $95 OCAS fees at time of registration.

Student Cards
Student cards will be available at Orientation.  In addition, Native University Program students will also be issued McMaster University library card in order to access their library services.

Student Counselling Services
Career, academic and social counselling services are available to all students, full-time and part-time.  Call Pam Skye, Student Services Coordinator at 519-445-0023, ext. 234 to arrange an appointment.

Student Lounge
The newly furnished Student Lounge located on the lower level features comfortable seating areas, study carrels, internet access and some kitchen facilities.

Textbook Sales
Textbooks and courseware will be available for purchase at the Student Orientation on Wednesday, September 1, 2010.  We gladly accept cash, cheque or Visa as payment.

Tutoring
Individual tutoring services are available.  Call Pam Skye, Student Services Coordinator at 519-445-0023, ext. 234 for details.

Wireless Internet
Six Nations Polytechnic now has wireless computer access.  Access codes will be provided at Orientation.
