Meet Nicole, a recent graduate from the Social Service Worker program at Six Nations Polytechnic! Over two transformative years, Nicole not only gained valuable knowledge but also experienced incredible personal growth. Through insightful coursework and hands-on training, Nicole is now eager to make a positive impact in her community!

Nicole describes her time in the program as great! She had the opportunity to connect with new people who expanded her perspectives on life and relationships, encouraging open-mindedness. A major takeaway for Nicole was understanding that self-care is essential, not selfish. “I had always felt guilty for things that I have done for myself in the past. Now knowing that I shouldn’t feel this way, because I need to take care of me so I can take care of others,” Nicole shares.

Nicole's decision to attend SNP was influenced by multiple factors. She appreciated that SNP embraces Indigenous values at its core, fostering a sense of community and belonging. Additionally, the availability of virtual classes offered her flexibility in learning while being conveniently located close to home!

Looking ahead, Nicole envisions a fulfilling career as an advocate for the Elders. During her program's placement at Community Living – Six Nations, she thrived and can easily picture herself as a dedicated team member! She intends to stay actively involved with Community Living.

Interested in SNP’s Social Service Worker program? Nicole’s advice is to: “take the program at SNP! There is so much that SNP has to offer. Having the classes in person is a wonderful experience because the class sizes are small and you don’t get as overwhelmed.”
