Program Description

The  Advanced Diploma ̨in Ǫgwehǫweh  Language Program offers learners two years of immersive study in one of the Hodinǫ̱hso:ni’ languages. The goal of creating language speakers with an advanced level of proficiency is the anticipated outcome of the program.

In 2026-27, Cayuga will be offered.

Through intensive learning of the root word method and Cayuga grammatical concepts, students will quickly master the vocabulary, grammar, speaking, and listening skills required to become an advanced-level speaker. The goal of this program is to have students confidently use the language in a variety of settings. Learners will be able to create their own words and convey meaning in the language, and most importantly, think in the language. They will also develop skills needed to become employable within the Hodinǫ̱hso:ni’ language community as language resource developers, educators, translators, etc.
