Future in Trades

Trades Exploration - this full-time 7-week program provides learners the opportunity to explore various trades offered at SNP. The program is designed for individuals interested in pursuing a career in skilled trades but are unsure what field to specialize in. As students gain experience in introductory theory and hands-on exposure their interests should develop in a particular field.

Metals Explorer is a 5-week tuition-free program allowing learners to focus on industrial trades. Programs are designed to help individuals interested in a trades career but unsure what field to specialize in.

  • Tuition-Free
  • Small classes
  • Open to Indigenous and non-indigenous learners'

Program Entrance Requirements

  • Minimum 16 years old or older
  • Willing to commit to full-time classes, 4 days per week
  • Have CSA-approved steel-toed boots (above ankle)

The Trades Exploration program is open to domestic students only.

Learning Outcomes

Students will participate in introductory topics in areas that include: 

  • Shop Safety 
  • Soft Skills for Manufacturing 
  • SNP Trades Program and Career Exploration 
  • Intro to Blueprint Reading
  • Intro to Pottery (trades exploration only)
  • Welding and Metal Fabrication Introduction 
  • General Machinist, CADD, and 3D Printing Introduction 
  • Introduction to Culinary Arts (trades exploration only)
  • Introduction to Woodworking (trades exploration only)
